Following 10 years working in salons both at home and abroad, hairdresser, Craig Hutchison, knew that the time was right to open his own business.

Launched in late 2014, with support from Business Gateway Fife, Dunfermline based, Vollood Hairdressing (www.facebook.com/pages/Vollood-Hairdressing) offers customers a range of styling services and exclusive Aveda products, from tailor made premises in Bridge Street.

“We have spent considerable time creating an environment that our clients can feel totally at ease and completely relaxed in,” said Craig.  “Customer service is our top priority and I want everyone who visits Vollood to leave feeling on top of the world.

“It was a challenging process to get the salon up and running but fortunately Business Gateway Fife was on hand to help me out.  My adviser, Graeme Allan, was a great support and helped me secure a £5,000 Vacant Property Improvement Grant from Fife Council’s Town Centre Development Unit.

“The salon has a fantastic location on Bridge Street and the building had some fantastic historic features, including impressive stonework and slatework, that I wanted to keep.”

Now that the business is up and running Craig is looking to expand the services on offer and is planning to rent chairs and introduce a Wellness Spa.

Craig continued: “I would like to take on some staff and will certainly be looking to Business Gateway Fife again for some advice on HR and employment issues.”
