Fife Business Week 2020 has wrapped up for its eleventh year! In a year like no other, dominated by a global pandemic, around 425 businesses across Fife and beyond still managed to come together through digital platforms to learn, share best practice and network in a week full of events aimed at creating opportunities in the ‘new normal’.
From 2nd to 6th November, a host of virtual events were delivered. On Monday, University of Dundee and To be the One Coaching explored the five best kept secrets to become a healthy resilient leader with the power to create a new future by running a workshop to reimagine your business in a post COVID-19 era.
Fife Council’s Economic Development Team in partnership with the Supplier Development Programme brought together 258 participants to create opportunities in the new ‘normal’. The week’s keynote event, Meet the Buyer showcased a range of contract opportunities currently available in Fife, across various sectors, including construction, offshore wind, renewables, and manufacturing.
Scottish legal firm, Blackadders LLP, answered many of the common questions employers have around Employment Law and the workplace when they delivered a session on the Friday. Donna Reynolds, Employment Law and Discrimination Specialist, commented:
“Looking after employees is paramount in our business and managing the many different situations can be very hard. We look to help employers work through these and give them help with any situation which may arise. We were delighted to see a wide range of business sectors participate from manufacturing to hospitality and retail.”
Councillor Altany Craik, Convenor for Fife Council’s Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning and Transportation Committee said:
“Fife Business Week 2020 aimed to assist businesses during the most challenging of times, as they try to plan, adapt and find solutions during a COVID-19 pandemic. The public and private sector support agencies, business experts and entrepreneurs worked collaboratively to share their knowledge and experience by delivering workshops and sessions online. I hope that businesses found the week beneficial and that it helped them make decisions to allow them to sustain and recover.”
He added: “It is also vital that Fife’s businesses know that the significant support and advice continue to be available to them through our public and private sector agencies.”
