Councillor Lesley Laird has continued her commitment to engaging with Fife Businesses as she visited Contract Solutions (Scotland) Ltd, a specialist precision engineering company which has grown rapidly since it was formed in 2010.
Councillor Laird has been meeting a number of Fife Businesses following her appointment to the board of Business Gateway Fife to understand the challenges being faced and gain feedback on the support they are looking for in today’s economy.
Contract Solutions (Scotland) Ltd (CSS) has established itself a key supplier to the telecoms, defence, space and automotive markets with its range of services including prototyping and machining of high quality components all to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 standard.
The family owned business has grown from its humble beginnings with just one machine in an old farm shed with a leaking roof to its current position where it now operates from 5500 square foot premises in Cupar with 10 employees.
The company recently invested in the latest technology to provide a state of the art measuring service carried out in their dedicated clean room facility.
Business Gateway Fife has been working with CSS for a number of years providing support and guidance on various matters as well as assisting with their RSA funding application to extend their factory and invest in two 5 axis CNC machines.
CSS’s Managing Director, Robert Duncan, said “The support we have received from Business Gateway Fife has been first class over the years and have always been on hand to act as a sounding board, point us in the right direction and advise on the best course of action.”
He continued, “We have continued to invest in our operations and thankfully now have a broad range of services. This allows us to target a number of sectors and helped us to continue to grow over the years.”
Councillor Laird commented, “Fife is a hot bed for specialist engineering companies with so many fantastic success stories such as CSS. However it is vital that we continue to support these businesses with the advice and services they require to compete in an increasingly global market place.”
She continued, “The growth of markets such as renewable energy presents new opportunities for many engineering companies and we need to work closely with them to support investments in new technology, new processes and market developments.”
Councillor Laird was also joined by George Morgunov, Business Adviser from Business Gateway Fife and George Sneddon from Fife Council Economic Development.
