A Fife tax advisor has been awarded the highest level of tax qualification in the UK.
Liz Goldie, Tax Manager in the Cupar office of EQ Chartered Accountants, has passed the prestigious Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) exams, qualifying as a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).

Fife vintage firm helping real-life Dumbos get new home to celebrate 10th movie role

Fife vintage specialist Scaramanga is helping real-life Dumbos get a new home to celebrate Disney movie Dumbo, released today, becoming the 10th film it’s seen its products used in.
 
Two years ago the Cupar firm received two orders from props buyers for the live-action remake of the Disney classic about a flying baby circus elephant – one for six late-Victorian travel trunks, the second for 15 large brass and iron antique padlocks and a set of school ropes. 
 
Now they’re set to appear in the new Tim Burton live action remake of the family favourit

Exhibition Support Pays Dividends for Fife Companies

A delegation of seven businesses have recently returned from Packaging Innovations 2018, having attended a learning journey through Fife Council Economic Development’s Trade Development Programme.

The main aim was to determine interest in the coordination of a Fife group stand at a later date. The event was positive. The Fife businesses (ESC Packaging, FoodMek, Janettas, Pitreavie Group, Plastech, SM Bayne and Smith Anderson) met, gained knowledge and networked with key contacts in the packaging industry.

Keela Supply Clothing to Blockbuster Movie

Eagle-eyed viewers watching the recent blockbuster, Calibre, will have noticed that the main character, Jack Lowden, was decked out in Keela clothing. And, it wasn't just in front of the screen that Keela's country jackets, fleeces and waterproof trousers were worn - the production team also donned the award-winning outdoor wear.

This is just one of the Glenrothes-based business' successes. Its technical clothing makes regular appearances on BBC's Casualty, whilst it has also won a new contract with Scottish Natural Heritage.

FIFE COUNCIL LAUNCHES NEW BUSINESS CHARTER

A new business charter that aims to promote local jobs, apprenticeships and payment of the living wage has been launched.
 
The charter, which also sets out how Fife Council will support the region’s businesses, outlines the part businesses can play in making sure the benefits of Fife’s economic growth are shared by all.
 
Companies in Fife are being encouraged to adopt the Fife Business Charter which aims to promote the creation of employment and training opportunities for local residents, including those with disabilities.
