Ambition & Growth Conference in Scotland

Kirkcaldy Company Crowned High Growth Business of the Year 2015

A Fife entrepreneur has scooped a top business award for the growth of his Kirkcaldy-based content marketing company.

Chris Marr, who hails from Leven, landed the High Growth Business of the Year 2015 accolade at the WeDO Scotland Awards in Edinburgh after doubling the turnover of his business, the Content Marketing Academy (CMA), in the last 12 months.

Chris, who launched the CMA in 2013, also doubled his team and moved into new office premises at Fife Group’s Mitchelston Industrial Estate complex earlier this year.

Fife Tops Table for Business Performance

New research reveals that Kirkcaldy is home to the best performing micro-businesses in Britain based on growth.

Kirkcaldy based, Fife Micro-businesses are out-performing their peers, with growth outstripping the likes of tech start-ups in London’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’.

Recent research by global information services company Experian has named the town home to some of the highest-performing small businesses with a turnover of less than £100,000, with 35 per cent considered to be fast-growing. This puts Kirkcaldy marginally ahead of second-place Birmingham on 34.7 per cent.

£5000 Available Through The Local Carbon Skills Fund

Low Carbon Skills Fund

The Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF) gives Scottish businesses with under 100 employees the opportunity to apply for up to £5000 towards employee training costs in areas such as renewable energy and low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, waste management and re-use, and reducing carbon in supply and energy management.

We will refund up to 60% of employee training costs, up to a maximum of £1000 per employee.

World Quality Day is a United Nations initiative championed in the United Kingdom by The Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and supported in Scotland by the Scottish Quality Management Centre (SQMC).

Each year, SQMC mark the occasion by presenting a trophy to their awarding panel’s ‘Quality Professional of the Year’. The accolade for 2015 was yesterday presented to Steven Black: Quality Manager of Glasgow pre-stressed lintel manufacturer, Robeslee Concrete Company.
