Crossgates gas specialist crowned Best Heating Engineer in Fife

A Fife heating specialist has scooped a national award for his gas services expertise.

Pedro Tang, who runs Crossgates Gas & Maintenance, has been crowned Best Heating Engineer in Fife in the 2016 Technology Innovator Awards organised by CV (Corporate Vision) Magazine.

It’s the latest in a string of awards for Pedro and his Crossgates-based team, which romped home from last year’s National Energy Efficiency & Retrofit Awards (Scotland) with a trilogy of honours for their ethical and green credentials.

BID St Andrews and StAndEN to tidy town with new ‘St Andrews Green Squad

BID St Andrews is launching a new ‘Clean and Green’ initiative for levy-payers and the town: ‘The St Andrews Green Squad’.

The project, partly funded by a grant won by BID St Andrews, will employ a supervisor to train and lead a small team of volunteers, including youngsters seeking employability skills, to deliver a range of agreed environmental projects within the BID area.

BID St Andrews brings back Land Train for summer trial

After a successful pilot during the Open Championship last year, BID St Andrews has arranged for the LocalMotion Land Train to return to St Andrews next week [July 25-31] for a formal summer trial.

The popular family-friendly attraction with seats for up to 60 passengers young and old, will run from Monday July 25 till Sunday July 31 from 11am till 5pm, providing visitors with an easy way to see everything St Andrews has to offer.

Ten out of Ten for Lifetime Photography

Top wedding photographer Rob Thomson has notched up another milestone in his meteoric rise as one of Scotland’s best wedding photographers.

The 49 year old snapper, originally from Kennoway, has just celebrated 10 years in business after setting up Lifetime Photography in Kirkcaldy in 2006 and it all began with the birth of his first child.

Planys Mobile Develops Environmental Software

Planys Mobile, a Fife software company, is developing a web application to help the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) conduct complex surveys. The surveys study the attitudes towards, and usage of, the marine environment.

Examples of the surveys undertaken by SAMS researchers include collecting data from sea divers and sea anglers to inform the establishment of marine protected areas in the UK. Another example sought community views towards the concept of a new nature conservation facility in the Forth area, including potential social and economic costs and benefits.
